Customer service is the provision of service to customers before, during and after a purchase. Customer service can also be defined as a series of activities designed to enhance the level of customer satisfaction. Its importance varies by products, industry and customer. In the golf industry, customer service is huge. If you do not have good people skills or treat a customer bad, you can and will go out of business. Every customer, whether it be golf related or not, will have what is called a moment of truth.

Internships are a great way to help you to determine if you think a career in the golf industry will be right for you. They are also a great way to start networking early, gain good work experience, and practice working in the golf industry and seeing if you enjoy it. First lets talk about why the PGM program requires 5 summers of internships. They require this because it is suppose to help you gain valuable work experience. By being exposed to actually getting out and working on a golf course you will get a good taste of what you will need to do throughout your career. By experiencing the more grunt work of the golf operations, that will help make you an even better golf course manager or superintendent or head golf professional because you have gone through and know a little bit about each position.
